Ilkay Gundogan is set to agree a new contract with Manchester City amid talk of a potential transfer to Arsenal or Barcelona this summer.
That is according to The Sun, who have claimed that the German international won't be leaving the Etihad Stadium at the end of the month, when his current deal is set to expire. Both the Gunners and La Liga champions Barcelona have been credited with a potential interest in prising Gundogan away from Pep Guardiola, who has made it no secret of his desire to keep the veteran midfielder.
"He knows what I think," Guardiola said when asked about his captain after City defeated local rivals Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final on Saturday. "Txiki [Begiristain, football director] is working on it. Hopefully he can be successful."

Gundogan himself spoke about his future with the Premier League champions after scoring both goals in Saturday's final, admitting that no decision had been made as of yet. Speaking about his next steps to the BBC after the match at Wembley, the 32-year-old said: "To be honest I don’t need these kind of days to feel appreciated and to feel special in this club.
"I know that, that is why I am here already seven years with all the ups and downs I’ve had so far. Nothing is decided yet so we’re going to see what’s going to happen."
