Ilkay Gundogan gives 'private jet' explanation as Jurgen Klopp makes Man City prediction

Here are your Manchester City evening headlines for Wednesday, May 18.

Gundogan clears up Man City 'private jet' transfer reports

Ilkay Gundogan has revealed that he has married his partner Sara Arfaoui this week, with his new wife appearing to criticise reports that the midfielder was leaving Manchester City.

Recent reports have suggested Gundogan will be sold by City in the summer, with his contract up in 2023 and the club apparently not willing to offer an extension. It was claimed that Gundogan was seen jetting off to Madrid in a private plane from Manchester Airport, with the trip made to sound like it was being made so that the midfielder could engage in transfer talks.

However, City insisted that Gundogan's future won't be decided before the end of the season, with MEN Sport reporting that the German's agent was furious at the report and the timing of it just before the final day of the season. Now, Gundogan has announced his marriage on Instagram, ending those transfer talk suggestions once and for all.

Jurgen Klopp makes Man City prediction ahead of Premier League final day

Jurgen Klopp admits it's 'not likely' that Liverpool will win the Premier League title on Sunday, but has warned Manchester City that they will be ready to take advantage if the Blues slip up.

Liverpool beat Southampton on Tuesday to take the title race to the final day, but still trail City by a point. If Liverpool are to win the title, they need to win at home to Wolves and hope City don't beat Aston Villa. To complicate matters, Villa play relegation-threatened Burnley on Thursday, while City will have had a full week to prepare.

Klopp acknowledged that City remain strong favourites to seal the title on Sunday's final round of fixtures, but he insisted Liverpool won't give up as long as there remains a chance.
