If 2025 Was About Color-Drenching, 2026 Is for Wood-Drenching – Kendall Jenner's Unbelievably Chic Airstream Bedroom Sets the Ultimate Precedent

Kendall Jenner.

Few design trends rivaled color-drenching in how we decorated in 2025, but how will this evolve in the new year? Kendall Jenner has revealed the answer, in the most unexpected of spaces: Her retro Airstream on the grounds of her mountainous Wyoming home.

While the entirety of her mountain home project exudes a rare, 'grandma chic' aesthetic, her Airstream (which she affectionately named Bambi), packs the most style into the smallest space. Designed by the acclaimed Heidi Caillier, the Airstream's open-plan bedroom and kitchen area is a masterclass in rich, soulful design that mirrors its natural surroundings, and the secret lies in the extensive use of wood.

In the same way that color-drenching involves decorating a room in one color, wood-drenching envelops a space in timber, using the same or complementary wood across floors, walls, ceilings, and occasionally furniture to achieve a seamless, cocoon-like ambiance.

This approach is especially effective with natural finishes that showcase the wood grain, adding warmth and texture to the room (or Airstream, in Kendall's case). It's an organic twist on the former interior design trend – one that's set to change how we decorate in 2026, as experts explain.

'Wood drenching works beautifully to define different areas in open-plan living spaces or to create a cosy and intimate feel in bedrooms,' comments Ian Tomlinson, Managing Director at Chaunceys Timber.

'The right choice of timber can give a space a calming, elegant character while remaining incredibly welcoming. Using reclaimed or sustainably sourced wood is also a wonderful way to add character while supporting environmentally conscious design.'

As expected, following Kendall's example comes with strategic planning, but if you choose the best timber for your environment, you can enjoy this beautiful, grounding style for long beyond 2026.

'To get it right, it is important to choose timber that is suitable for your space, particularly if you are using it on walls or ceilings,' Ian says.

'Keeping color tones and finishes consistent makes the design feel intentional and harmonious rather than mismatched. Key considerations include moisture levels, expansion gaps, and lighting. Timber will naturally expand and contract with humidity, so proper installation and acclimatisation are also essential.'

Kendall's mountain home may be ahead of the curve, but we're sure it won't be the first home we see experiment with this look in this new year, even if it is only Airstream.
