Iceland announces return of the Nik Naks with taste twist

Supermarket chain Iceland has announced that the knobbly crisp brand Nik Naks is coming back to its shelves – but with a twist.

Its stores will shortly be stocking the Nik Naks Shredded Chicken flavour in among the already established crispy favourites — Nice ‘n’ Spicy and Rib ‘n’ Saucy — giving the crunchy crisp classic a 2023 upgrade, and will only be available to Iceland shoppers.

The corn snack range, which was first introduced in the UK as Crunchy Wotsits in the early 1980s, is due to put its new flavour into Iceland’s supermarket freezer capsules along with the traditional flavours. The 450g multipacks will retail at £4.

The new flavour has received a welcome on some social media feeds, although one reader asked for the Scampi and Lemon flavour to make a comeback. According to sources, the sharp tasting snack that has never contained any fish products was phased out in 2008 to make way for the Pickle 'n' Onion flavour, which has since been discontinued. However, Scampi 'n' Lemon flavours can be found in the brand's variety multipacks.

The range that includes the Shredded Chicken flavour, says Iceland, will be available exclusively in its stores from Monday, January 30.
