Ice cream flavour lager aims to be summer scoop for Camden Town Brewery

A brewery is combining two of the UK's most popular summer treats to create its latest special edition beer. Camden Town Brewery has continued to create innovative flavour combinations and has come up with Ice Cream Vanilla Lager.

Pairing Camden’s beer with lactose and vanilla essence, the new variety is guaranteed to be more refreshing than a soft serve cone on a warm summer’s day. The refreshingly clean and creamy lager was originally launched last year as a small-batch innovation project.

But it proved to be the most popular with Camden fans, so now it's back in a 440ml can. Fred Nesbitt, head of marketing at Camden Town Brewery, said: “There’s nothing better than enjoying an ice cream and a beer on a warm summer’s day, and at Camden Town Brewery we thought why not combine two of our favourite flavours?

"We took inspiration from a summer classic, vanilla ice cream, to create our very own Ice Cream Vanilla Lager. We know our new beer, complete with a bigger 440ml can, is going to melt the hearts of lager lovers everywhere so be sure to keep an eye out for when it hits shelves.”

Camden Town Brewery is based in North London and the home of Hells Lager. Founded by Jasper Cuppaidge, the team began brewing under the railway arches in Camden in 2010 and opened a second brewery in Enfield in July 2017.

Alongside the core range, Camden Town Brewery releases small batch beers under its ‘Arch 55’ series. The brewery also produces fresh Beer Hall beers, which are new idea beers brewed under the arches at Camden’s new Beer Hall in Kentish Town. The fresh new beers are launched every month and give Camden’s brewing team the chance to try out new ideas, ingredients, techniques and recipes.

Camden Ice Cream Vanilla Lager will be available in single units at retailers Sainsbury’s and Morrisons, and the Camden web shop for £3 per unit or £12 for a four pack.
