Just when you thought you had all of the home amenities covered, Winnings Kingston's new-look store starts offering ice baths and saunas.
The 2600sqm Kingston store - formerly known as Winning Appliances - reopens on Wednesday, adding furniture, textiles, lighting, bathware and wellness offerings to its range.
"We had a lot of shoppers as well as architects and designers within our space here at Kingston enjoying how they interact with our displays in a very aspirational and lifestyle manner," Winnings group design manager Kate McGlone said.
"And they started suggesting that this would be a useful way for the retail space to expand into other categories. That was the first sort of stepping plan for us to land in this spot."
Winnings first opened its doors in Canberra in 2016, when it boasted being the largest appliance showroom in the Southern Hemisphere.
While the brand's flagship Redfern store has overtaken the Kingston space in size, Ms McGlone said the large footprint made it possible to extend the offerings.
The store's brands include Sub Zero & Wolf, Gaggeanu, Amura, Case Furniture, CTO Lighting, Catalano, Claybrook, TechnoGym and Revel.
"We're the only retail offering that has world-leading exclusive brands and technologies for the home under one roof," Ms McGlone said.
"Beyond having world-leading brands with quality that's going to stand the test of time, it's all in one spot, which I think streamlines that journey."
It's a big step forward for the Australian company, which previously only stocked household appliances for the kitchen and laundry.
When it comes to the wellbeing range - which includes the icebaths, saunas and tech-based gym equipment - it was a case of being inspired by the COVID lockdowns, a time when people's desire to include items such as these in their homes increased.
"At the end of the day it is about connecting with a space," Ms McGlone said.
"I think we all know you walk into a beautiful cafe or a lovely library or someone's home, and it's really the essence of how it feels that creates the memory.
"That is what was the secret recipe to how we did the kitchen and culinary space so effectively under Winning Appliances, which I think Canberra locals who have been in our showroom are familiar with.
"It's effectively carrying across that same design premise to these new categories."
