Ian Burchnall issues verdict after Notts County held in Solihull Moors classic

Ian Burchnall admitted Notts County's thrilling 3-3 draw at Solihull Moors was a "fair" result after they served up a National League classic.

In a barnstorming contest full of drama, Notts had fallen behind early on to Andrew Dallas' penalty but hit back to level through Ruben Rodrigues.

They then took the lead in the second half through Alex Lacey only for Dallas to haul the Moors level.

Rodrigues thought he had clinched the win for Notts when he produced a terrific finish after racing clean through, but Ryan Barnett denied the Magpies with a superb 25-yard effort four minutes from time.

And asked for his verdict on the game, head coach Burchnall felt that a point was the right outcome.

"It was two good teams wanting to win the game," he said.

"At no point did Solihull sit back and neither did we. Maybe we did towards the end as they pinned us in and threw everything at us.

"But both teams wanted to win. It was wide open and a bit too open at times but I think it would have been a great game to watch.

"At 3-2 I was hoping we would close the game out but it's a great strike from distance to make it 3-3.

"A point was fair."
