Former Everton striker Wayne Rooney has tipped Liverpool to take a step closer to winning the Premier League title. The Reds are battling for the league title with Manchester City, and are currently one point behind with eight matches left to play.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are due to take on City this weekend at the Etihad Stadium. Before then, though, both teams are in Champions League action this week, with Liverpool facing Benfica and Manchester City against Atletico Madrid.

Ex-Manchester United striker Rooney appeared as a pundit alongside Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football. In the programme, Rooney spoke about the title race between the Reds and Man City.
