As an end of the week treat or something to cheer the kids up as they sit their SATs or GCSEs, we’ve found the perfect dessert place were the portions are massive. Community reporter Keimae Blake was ‘defeated’ by the desserts at one Nottingham restaurant where the prices are cheap and cheerful as she reports…
Don’t get me wrong, I do like a dessert but usually when eating out I’d opt for a starter and a main. After an afternoon in Beeston, however, it would have been rude not to go to Rassams Creamery on Station Street.
You can’t miss the large dessert place next to the Beeston Social. At Rassams, they sell more than 40 shakes, 15 cookie dough flavours, crepes, pancakes and more.

There’s plenty of room to sit in this spacious restaurant, that opened only a few months ago, or if you’d rather take it away and eat on the sofa, so be it. On arrival to Rassams it was fairly quiet - I thought it was closed at first.
It was the afternoon however, so most people would have been at school or work. Walking into the restaurant I was amazed at how big it was.
I remember seeing pictures from the ‘first look’ but there’s seating both upstairs and downstairs. Greeted by a member of staff, I was ushered to a table and sat down on the cushiony seats that I could have taken a nap on, and the restaurant too was spotless.
When ordering dessert I either go for a crepe or a cookie dough. When ordering at Rassams, they take your order on a tablet filled with lots of dessert options.
I went for a Kinder Cookie Dough for £9.99 and a hot chocolate. Now, I ordered a large dessert for £9.99 but never anticipated just how big it would be.
It was massive. Once it came, of course I didn’t eat it all. I definitely underestimated how big it would be.
If you ever go to Rassams a large cookie is to share, not to eat on your own - unless you want the challenge. The cookie was toasty and warm with melted chocolate all over it.
The small amount of ice cream was the perfect touch to feel refreshed too. I drank my hot chocolate after I had given up with the sweet treat and, luckily, it was still hot.
With chocolate sprinkles on it and whipped cream too, it was safe to say my tummy wouldn’t be rumbling for a while. Leaving in a food coma, I would definitely come back here.
Affordable, big portion sizes and delightful desserts - what more could you ask for? Rassams is most definitely a 10/10.
