‘I was gonna take a bath before bed’: Woman checks into Seattle Hilton hotel at 1am. Then she turns the bath on

The occasional oddity is all part of the hotel experience—but TikTok user Isabella Olivas (@isabellamolivas) discovered something on another level while staying in what she claims to be a Hilton hotel.

In the clip, which took place in the hotel bathroom, Olivas stood in front of the bath and started by saying, “Um… I have never seen a bathtub like this before. I’m in a hotel. I just got in. It’s like 1 am, and I was gonna take a bath before bed.”

She then proceeds to turn the bath on via a knob (which has a written notice hanging on it) on the wall—but surprisingly, water pours from high up on the ceiling.

“I have never seen anything like that, and I’m here alone, and that scared me so much,” she admitted, before adding that some water went on her head. “That is… crazy. Why is it coming from the ceiling?”

The video amassed 2 million views.

Wait, what’s up with this tub?

In a follow-up video, Olivas clarified what the written notice on the knob actually said.

The notice read, “We love our tubs! We hope you do too. Please monitor the water level carefully as it does fill rapidly.”

Olivas then went on to add that she got no warning about water coming from the ceiling, and pointed out a separate shower.

In an Instagram message to the Mary Sue, Olivas shared how she was “shocked to find a bathtub I’d never seen before.”

“It made me laugh to discover water falling from the ceiling so I filmed a quick TikTok to laugh about it and had no idea it would get the response it did!” she shared. “Many commenters mentioned this style tub has been around for a while and I’m shocked this was my first time encountering one, as I think I’m a pretty worldly person.”

She says while she feels she was “living under a rock,” she did noticed millions of others were just as surprised.

“I’m still in disbelief to see how it blew up, but I think on top of the tub, people found my reaction funny,” she said. “I’m an actor so I sometimes forget my face is more expressive than normal.”

Olivas revealed she never asked the hotel about the tub, and added that the Hilton property was beautiful, so she had no complaints.

“I’m happy the video made others laugh and hope we can all continue to take life a little less seriously and find more joy in the little things,” she said.

What did commenters think?

Viewers weren’t impressed by the tap. One user described it as “upsetting,” and added, “I don’t like that at all. It probably splashes EVERYWHERE. And also there’s no way the water is staying hot until it reaches the tub. Ew. Whoever designed this needs to go to jail right now.”

“Why do hotels do too much?” a second asked. “Between this and using glass walls around the bathroom so anybody else in the room can see all your business, hotels just need to relax a bit.”

While a third said sarcastically, “Sounds so relaxing when you go to add a little hot water halfway through your bath.”

A fourth remarked that it’s “so loud and unnecessary,” while a fifth asked, “Is this rich people ish? Or poor people ish? I can’t tell.” To which Olivas replied, “Definitely too rich for me!”

Hilton PR didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via email.

Hilton Garden Inn hot tub bleaches swimsuit

Hilton’s aquatic offerings have caused a stir online before.

For instance, a video by TikToker Grita Sudziute (@gritasudziute) went viral after a Hilton Garden Inn hot tub ended up bleaching her swimsuit.

In the clip, she explained how she was in the tub for 45 minutes, and noticed a “really strong bleach smell.”

After leaving the tub, her friend pointed out her swimsuit, which led to Sudziute informing the staff. “They also immediately took a sample of the water, and the other guys started pumping clean water in the jacuzzi, clearly trying to dilute whatever the chemical concentration was there,” she said. “Thanks, Hilton Garden Inn.”
