A woman has opened up about the violence she faced during her childhood before she fled home at 15. Soon after, Bekhal Mahmod's sister was strangled to death in an 'honour' killing arranged by their father.
The family arrived in London in 1998 when she was 14. They were in search of better opportunities and an escape from persecution in their homeland of Iraq Kurdistan.
Just a year later she had run away from home after suffering from honour-based violence at the hands of her mother and father. Worse was to come.
