A "strong" mum who was told she was cancer free after fighting the illness has now been given the devastating news she has just months to live.
Liathán O'Donnchadha was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer on her 42nd birthday last year - cancer of the vagina which was also along the line of her bladder - after she woke up in a pool of blood accompanied with pains.
Every day for six weeks, she had radiotherapy along with chemotherapy every Tuesday, which she described as "soul destroying" and "horrific" as she had to leave her children, Eireann, 10, and Lochlann, five.
Liathán, from West Belfast, was told she was cancer free on November 10 last year which brought tears of joy to her family.
But now she has been given the devastating news that the cancer has returned and is more aggressive.
Speaking to Belfast Live, her friend Grainne said: "It is awful. She is just so strong and fighting. It is all you really can do. Her kids are her everything and they are the reason she is fighting."
Her friends have set up a GoFundMe page, to help Liathán make memories with her children in her final months. It tells of how her "dream" would be to spend a holiday with her kids in Donegal.
It states: "Sadly after only six months of being being cancer free, Liathán got the devastating news that the cancer has returned only this time far more aggressive and unfortunately terminal leaving her only a few short months with her two young children Eireann and Lochlann.
"We as Liathán's friends would like to raise some funds so that she can make some final happy memories for her children to have in these unforeseen circumstances. Her dream would be a trip to Donegal a place she loves and has fond memories of.
"[Her dream is] that she could spend her last holiday there with the kids. If anyone would like to help a small donation would be greatly appreciated.
"From the bottom of our hearts, as Liathán's friends, we want to say a huge thank you."
