'I used to work at Tesco and there's a secret perk many employees don't know about'

A former Tesco worker has shared a perk of his old job - which many current employees didn't even know about.

Niv Burua stunned some of the workers with a TikTok, in which he explained what the supermarket's "colleague shop" system is.

It allows, he said, employees to bag some free stuff at the end of the day. This usually includes fruit, vegetables and fresh meat which is maybe going out of date, and meal deals.

The social media message was viewed more than 230,000 times on TikTok, and liked by around 10,000 on the social media site.

More than 350,000 people work for the supermarket chain, which has around 4,600 stores across the UK.

Niv said: "Basically colleague shop is after 9 pm around then and all items are free for colleagues that are on shift.

"So it's a great, great perk and you end up taking home some free food so yeah it's pretty decent."

Others replied to the post, including current Tesco staff.

One employee said: "Oh, I work morning shifts, so I wouldn’t know that."

Another said: "I work at Tesco, it’s not all items, it’s the reduced items that say cs on them."

A third commented: "It’s reduction food bro."

"Bakery mostly," penned another TikTok user.

One woman said: "Well not all items lad just reduced items that haven’t been picked up."
