Eurovision has brought a melting pot of cultures to Liverpool - and Ukrainian culture has naturally been front and centre of that.
In EuroVillage on the Pier Head, there are many different food cuisines to choose from, including over very own bowls of Scouse. But if you have yet to visit, be sure to check out the Discover Ukraine section.
It is here, under the United By Food stand, that I decided to try out some Ukrainian cuisine. There were a good range of options, from a traditional beetroot soup called Borshch to Lviv Syrnyk, a Chcolate glazed cheesecake.

I was in a bit of a rush and the rain was pouring down, so I opted for the Cheburek. This is a Crimean Tatar dish, essentially a pastry containing ground beef, lamb, onion and seasoning.
The pastry itself was as big as my hand and far bigger than the ones you get in Greggs. The temperature was perfect too - not scolding hot but enough to give me some well needed warmth.
Inside, there were big chunks of delicious meat which were seasoned well. However, if I went again, I might try something slightly more adventurous.
My only other complaint was where the stand was located in EuroVillage. It is placed by the exit, past the other food stalls, and when I first got there I didn’t notice it was there.
Overall though, the food itself was delicious. I hope to see some more Cheburek in pasty shops across Liverpool and the country.
