I tried to hide my bad roots with a £29 product and the results were interesting

Listen, it can be very expensive being a fake blonde, which is why I'm always after cheaper alternatives.

I recently swapped from having a full head of highlights to a scalp bleach, and let me tell you, my bank balance is paying the price (quite literally). Dying your hair in general can be a pricey game no matter what your hair colour is - but are there cheaper alternatives?

Being a platinum blonde, I'd say it's recommended that I get my hair done every six weeks if I want to maintain that non-rooty look, but it's just impossible. Especially with the prices of everything going up, it's really hard to feel the need to spend money on visiting a salon when there's much more to be thinking about.

I'd read mixed reviews on the 'Colour Wow Root Cover Up' product which comes in various different shades including black, blonde, dark blonde, dark brown, light brown, medium brown, platinum blonde and red. I chose the platinum blonde shade, but I'll admit, I was a little dubious at first.

The reason I was dubious was purely because I have quite dark roots in comparison to to my white/grey hair. I knew this product wasn't going to work miracles, but I was intrigued to see how well it would actually cover up my pesky roots.
