The summer dresses are now packed away for another year to make way for cosy knits and tonal colour palettes. And I’ve found the perfect celebrity-approved collection that ticks all of the boxes this autumn season.
Love Islander and TV personality Dani Dyer has brought out a stunning line of vintage-inspired dresses, blouses and blazers with high street retailer Matalan , as part of a collaboration with Girls on Film.
The 24-piece collection features a mix of eye-catching geometric prints to block colours that mimic autumn leaves - and I’m here for all of it.

I fell in love with the brown geo print midi dress weeks ago that’s totally chic, but now I’ve discovered a bodysuit that I can’t stop wearing. And better yet? It’s on sale for only £12 .
The Olive Halter Neck Bodysuit is somewhere between mustard and lime in colour, and it’s the answer to all of your ‘jeans and a nice top’ prayers. The top has an interesting crossover neckline with cut out detail over the collarbones. While I’m not particularly blessed in the chest area, it’s a bust-flattering design which hugs your curves for a feminine silhouette.
When I first put the bodysuit on, I thought the cut-out area was a little bit gapey, however, this is because I hadn’t fully fastened the popper-style closure, and once fully secured in, it was the perfect fit. Some bodysuits you can get away with just tucking into your skirt or jeans, but this isn’t one of them - it can be forgiven though, as it does feel amazing on.
The edgy number was originally £24, now half price at £12 , and can be paired with trousers, jeans and skirts to create an individual look with items you already love in your wardrobe. With a blazer and smart trousers, it’s office-worthy, but swap them out for heels and your favourite jeans and you’ll be ready in time for happy hour with the girls.
Commenting on the collection, Dani - who won the 2018 series of Love Island with Jack Fincham - said: “I had such fun working with the design team to put the collection together. I love the bright colours and '70s styles we’ve created. Everything is easy to wear and bang on trend for autumn.”
And she’s so right, everything really is easy to wear, and bang on trend for autumn. And as someone who does enjoy vintage fashion, it feels like a modern take on my usual style, too. In fact, I loved the bodysuit so much, I got the midi dress in a similar style.
The Olive Ribbed Crossover Midi Dress comes in at £28, available in size 6 to 22 - the same as the bodysuit. The ribbed jersey dress is quite thick, so you don’t need to worry about it being see-through, either.
While it doesn’t have the same crossover neckline as the bodysuit, it does have a twisting design across the chest down to the waist, which I feel distracts from my personal insecurities. For years I avoided body-con style dresses , but I feel really comfortable in this piece, which I paired with chunky brown boots for a trip to the theatre.
To have a bit of fun and put my own spin on the look, I wore it with a contrasting pink bag and fedora for a pop of colour.
