Aldi’s cosmetic dupes have gone viral on TikTok and the #AldiBeauty has become widely used on the platform with around 7.7 million views. But the supermarket chain hasn’t stopped there with their special-buy offerings.
Also available to buy are Aldi’s very own perfumes which shoppers are likening to big brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Thierry Mugler and Carolina Herrera. There are three scents on offer but we decided to try the dupe for Yves Saint Laurent’s Black Opium first.
The Lacura Dark Blossom is said to have a very similar smell to Black Opium but is it as good?

The item is described as: “boasting a classic blend of pink pepper and orange blossom notes with hints of sweet jasmine and coffee aromas.” Costing just £5.99, this perfume seems to be the perfect cheap replacement for the expensive brands.
TikTok user @Shanspalding praised the perfume for how similar it is to its competitors, she commented: “It feels like I could drown my body in this, it actually smells so similar.” With many others saying the same, we decided to try the perfume to see what all the fuss was about and if it actually was a good dupe for the Black Opium fragrance.
The perfume comes in a medium sized purple and black box, which has a sparkly effect on the front, similar to the Black Opium bottle. I think it looks stylish and makes the product feel more expensive than it actually is. The perfume bottle itself is a matte black with a purple label the name (Dark Blossom) sits in.
Upon opening the bottle I put a small amount onto my wrists and let it sink in for a few minutes before seeing what it smelt like. I found the smell was more on the sweeter side but not sickly. I personally couldn’t get the coffee aroma that is supposedly there but there was a more musky smell towards the end. I actually really liked this scent, it’s not too overpowering but enough to make people near you smell it. And it lasted for most of the day without me having to top it up.
If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative to your expensive favourites, I would definitely recommend this, £5.99 for 100 ml is a really good price compared to the £108 for just 90 ml. While a similar bottle at Amazon costs around £17.99.
