'I tried Aldi's £7 cream that's a £439 La Prairie dupe and TikTok was right'

An Aldi cream costing just £7.49 has been compared to a La Prairie moisturiser priced at £439.

Shoppers have rushed to the budget supermarket to purchase Lacura's Caviar Illumination cream following rave reviews. The skin care product has two active ingredients – caviar extract and snow algae.

Caviar is a powerful, anti-ageing ingredient that helps moisturise your skin throughout the day while Snow algae promotes collagen production in the skin. By using these products daily, the cream promises to make your skin smoother, creating a base for any foundation.

Describing the cream, Aldi said: "The Caviar Illumination Day Cream is the perfect way to start your day. Light in texture and full of luxurious ingrediants, this product will keep on working throughout the day long after you have applied it. With added SPF, it is a must for any skin-conscious beauty lover."

Following its release, several TikTok beauty gurus have branded the cream a dupe for La Prairie's Skin Caviar Luxe Cream. Here MyLondon reporter Alexandra Bullard shares in her own words what happened when she tried out Aldi's cream:

"Aldi's Caviar Illumination anti-age day cream (50ml) looks fairly assuming at first, and at £7 it wasn't going to exactly breaking the bank if I didn't like it. I will only make the switch if this product blows my mind...

"Upon inspection, Aldi's cream has clearly been inspired by La Prairie as both products look remarkably similar. The product shape and distinctive silver lids are bang-on identical, along with the word 'Caviar' popping up on both.

"I suspect you're wondering what Aldi's cream looks like. Though I must stress this is purely a price comparison, I did not have the La Prairie product to compare it with.

"Aldi's cream has a pure white colour, which is supposedly different from La Prairie and it's light yellow shade according to beauty bloggers. This didn't bother me as Aldi's smell was very luxurious and light.

"Applying some to my skin, you really don't need much as a little goes a long way. I'm over the moon as this means the product will last a long time and I've not even paid a tenner for it.

"So if you want to save up on buying your family Christmas presents this year, I highly recommend downshifting your beauty products and heading to your nearest Aldi store for this wonder product. It's the Crème de la crème.

"But if you prefer the big brand, it might be worth waiting for the Black Friday or Boxing Day sales before you get your hands on La Prairie's Caviar cream."
