I tried a 'cosy and warm' £32 John Lewis jumper in a 'vibrant' colour

January is feeling particularly chilly this year, which is why I've been on the hunt for a warm and cosy jumper that doesn't compromise on style.

I've purchased plenty of jumpers throughout my life that either end up being too thin, too itchy, or just not warm enough. I recently took a trip to John Lewis in Liverpool ONE to see if I could find the perfect jumper, and I instantly fell in love with one eye-catching piece.

The full product description for the John Lewis ANYDAY Plain Flared Sleeve Knit Jumper in orange reads: "Meet the go-to layer your autumn/winter wardrobe has been missing. In a cosy, textured knit with a cosy roll neckline, the real star of the show are the flared sleeves, effortlessly adding movement and a little retro-inspired glamour to dreary days."

The gorgeously bright jumper comes in three colours - orange, pale blue and pink. I couldn't see any of the other colours in store so I opted for the orange and I'm so glad I did, even if it did give off slight Velma from Scooby Doo vibes.

The jumper

For me, a good jumper is all about the thickness and the sheer quality of the material. There really is nothing worse than putting on a jumper and it itching like mad to the point where it's unbearable.

As a whole, the general fit of this jumper is really complimentary - especially the sleeves. I'm a big fan of batwing sleeves, and as long as you're not doing the washing up in them, I think they can be a real winner.

Although this jumper was cropped, it didn't feel too cropped like some jumpers can. In the past I've often found myself feeling really disappointed with a jumper that's just far too cropped, resulting in me feeling cold and uncomfortable.

I managed to tuck this jumper into my leather trousers quite easily, and that was a size down from my usual size 12. After trying on the jumper, I was amazed at how cosy and warm it was.

The jumper had a bit of a rough and bumpy exterior, but don't be fooled, because the inside of it is incredibly soft and warm to touch. That, combined with the incredibly bold vibrant orange made me instantly fall in love with the piece.

The verdict

Granted, this jumper definitely isn't for the faint hearted, especially if you opt for the orange shade, but it's bound to blow away those January blues. As soon as I put the jumper on, it felt effortless, I felt put together without even really trying.

I definitely think this jumper is a versatile one, and can be worn for a number of different occasions. Whether you're heading to the office or out for dinner, it's going to add a big pop of colour to your outfit.

I felt really warm and cosy wearing this jumper, and I think with a price of £32 it's seriously good value wise. I just hope I can find the pink one next time, because I'm obsessed.
