If your TikTok ‘For You Page’ is filled with makeup videos like mine, then you’ve probably heard of the BPerfect Cosmetics viral foundation.
The £20 BPerfect Cosmetics Chroma Cover Foundation has been doing the rounds on social media, being praised for its ‘flawless finish’. I’m always a little dubious when it comes to TikTok trending items, so I thought I’d give the brand a try myself.
I’ve actually had my eye on the BPerfect foundation for a while now, but was a little conscious that it would look too cakey on my skin. As soon as I saw that the brand had launched a new Chroma Cover ‘Luminous’ Foundation for £21.95 - I knew had to give it a go.

So, what’s different about the Luminous foundation as opposed to the original Chroma Cover Foundation? To me, it seems that the Luminous foundation still offers that ‘filter’ effect, but with buildable coverage and a more luminous finish.
That means that if you’re after a more bright and dewy look, this foundation may be the way forward. The original Chroma Cover Foundation gives off a more matte, full coverage aesthetic - so it’s really all down to what you prefer.
I’ve always been a fan of full coverage foundation, but as I’ve gotten older and more fine lines have started to appear, I’ve tried to steer away from thick foundation. I was really hoping the Luminous foundation would live up to the BPerfect hype, and I wasn’t disappointed.
Online, the full product description reads: “Introducing the latest addition to our VIRAL foundation range - Chroma Cover Luminous Foundation. A filter effect foundation with buildable coverage and a luminous finish - available in 36 SHADES. With skin optimising ingredients Hyaluronic Acid, Rosehip Oil and Vitamin E.”
The look
There’s no denying that the packaging for the Chroma Cover Luminous Foundation looks pretty expensive. Considering I’ve stupidly splurged up to £40 on foundation in the past, this foundation packaging is no different to any other high end brands that I’ve tried out.
The glass packaging has a slight weight to it and it doesn’t feel plastic or cheap which is always a bonus. I also really like the lid and the chrome effect of the bottle, which of course represents the foundation name.
But how did the foundation look? Well, considering it contains nourishing ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E it was actually thinner than I thought it would be, but it still spread onto my face beautifully with a sponge.
The shade W1 was ever so slightly too pale for me because I’d recently applied some fake tan, but if I hadn’t, it would’ve been a perfect colour match. I applied a couple of pumps onto my face and was amazed at how quickly it worked.
Let’s just say, a little really does go a long way with this foundation, and even after one layer I looked like my skin had been filtered and my problematic blemishes had disappeared. Although the foundation offered really good coverage, it wasn’t too cakey, and you could still see the texture of my skin which I really liked.
I set my foundation with some pressed powder and was surprised at how long it lasted. But after three hours, the foundation began to dry very matte and sink into some fine lines on my face.
This wasn’t too much of an issue for me because it didn’t sink in massively, but for those who would prefer a more dewy finish after a few hours, this might not be the foundation for you. As a whole, the foundation continued to look flawless throughout the day, but I'd recommend applying some powder every now and then to set it completely.
The feel
The foundation felt surprisingly thin on my face despite it offering such a high coverage, which I was really glad about. Considering I used to wear the incredibly thick Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation when I was about 15 - this went on like silk.
One downside for me was the scent of this foundation, it smelt a little bit like suncream, and I would’ve preferred it to have a fresher smell. For me, I think this foundation is perfect for a night out, but I wouldn’t want to wear it on a daily basis.
The verdict
Overall, I was really impressed with this foundation, but there were a few things I’d change about it. I didn't really like how it dries on the face, and I would prefer it if it had a different scent.
However, I think the coverage is absolutely amazing, and it leaves a beautiful finish on my skin. For someone that struggles with blemish prone skin, this foundation covered them with just one layer, and it didn’t feel cakey in the process.
I can definitely see why there’s so much hype around BPerfect at the moment, and I’ll definitely continue to use this foundation for nights out.
