'I think I have done...': Rohit Sharma ahead of MI's opening game against Gujarat Titans

NEW DELHI: Rohit Sharma, the former captain of Mumbai Indians, expressed optimism about the fresh talent recruited by the team for the latest edition of the IPL, as they strive for an unprecedented sixth title under the leadership of new captain Hardik Pandya.

The five-time IPL champions have acquired several promising players, including South African speedster Gerald Coetzee, emerging talent Kwena Maphaka from the U-19 World Cup, England's Luke Wood, Nuwan Thushara from Sri Lanka, Romario Shepherd from the West Indies, and Mohammad Nabi from Afghanistan.

Additionally, Indian cricketer Shreyas Gopal has also been added to their roster.

Maphaka recently joined the Mumbai Indians' squad, stepping in after Sri Lankan bowler Dilshan Madushanka's unfortunate injury, while Wood was brought in as a replacement for the injured Australian Jason Behrendorff.

"A lot of players that we got from the auction, a lot of new faces, young players who have done well in domestic cricket as well as international cricket... quite looking forward to that, hopefully they can make a mark right from the beginning," Rohit said in a video posted by Mumbai Indians.

Rohit, who joined the Mumbai Indians camp on Monday, has undergone a personalised training regimen tailored to his needs. This program has encompassed simulated net sessions, focusing on honing his cricketing skills, alongside mobility, strength, and conditioning drills to ensure he is in optimal physical condition for the upcoming challenges.

"For me, preparations have always been the key and that gives me a lot of confidence going into any game," he said.

"There are a lot of things that I do before a game and I think I have done everything now... just a few things here and there which is left and which I will do now and I will be ready for the game," Rohit said.

Rohit is coming off a Test series against England, which India won 4-1.
