'I stopped using shampoo almost a month ago - my hair has never looked better'

For most people, the idea of going more than a few days without washing our hair seems like a bad idea - as grease and oil buildup would likely leave us feeling gross without a good scrub.

But one influencer on Instagram has revealed she's left her hair for almost an entire month without using shampoo and has even claimed her locks are better off because of it, the Daily Star reports.

Hayley Madigan took to her Instagram Story to share the secret with her fans, as she said steering clear of shampoo for 22 days has actually helped her natural curls look better than ever.

The influencer shared her confession on Instagram (@hayleymadiganfitness/Instagram)
She also posted her haircare routine in another post (@hayleymadiganfitness/Instagram)

In one post, she wrote: "I haven't washed my hair with shampoo in 22 days. Don't hate me. It's just my curls do so much better when I don't shampoo it often.

"This is the longest I've ever left it and my curls have never been better."

Hayley, who posts under the username @hayleymadiganfitness, also shared a later update in which she went into details about her haircare routine.

She said: "Lots of you have asked if I actually wash it or use any product.

"I wash my hair every 3-4 days and use a leave-in conditioner curl cream - sometimes I use conditioner too (I wash this out) and then style it as normal with curl products and a diffuser (this is essential)."

Hayley's hair confession comes after vintage clothing business owner and TikTok user Laura Ashley recently said she hasn't washed her hair with shampoo in six years, and instead simply brushes her hair before rinsing it with water.

And while some have claimed Laura, 27, must have "greasy" hair, the woman has defended herself against criticism and insisted her tresses have never been healthier.

She said: "They're doing nothing but boosting my page and getting me tons of interactions. I don't care.

"If people want to comment that I look musty or sticky, by all means, go for it. Because everyone has their own opinions on hair, so whatever. I've never been told I stink. Honestly, I get a lot of compliments on my hair. I'm not fazed by the comments on TikTok at all, they're hilarious."
