‘I’m open’ - Sasa Kalajdzic responds to Manchester United transfer links

Stuttgart forward Sasa Kalajdzic has spoken out about his future for the first time since links with Manchester United emerged.

The attacker recovered from a rough shoulder injury this season to fire home six goals in his final 11 games. The Bundesliga’s tallest player at 6ft7’, Kalajdzic netted 17 goals in the 2020/21 campaign in his club’s first term back in the German top-flight.

The 24-year-old has been tipped for a potential move to Old Trafford as a back-up striker. Erik ten Hag is after attacking reinforcements for Cristiano Ronaldo with Edinson Cavani leaving, Anthony Martial unsettled and Marcus Rashford in poor form.

Kalajdzic would offer a different type of outlet for United, and would likely settle for being a substitute striker behind the Portugal captain. Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested with the European giants being handed £51m from Erling Haaland’s Manchester City switch.

German outlet Kicker reports that he could be prised away from strugglers Stuttgart for as little as £17m (€20m). The player is currently away with Ralf Rangnick and the Austria national team ahead of their Nations League games.

Kalajdzic remained calm about the speculation surrounding his future, but said all options are still on the table. “There will be no rush job. It's about finding what's best for me," he said.

“Nothing is out of the question, I'm open to everything. I don't know where the journey is going. There are many things going on in the background."
