I'm a Celebrity South Africa fans point out same issues with the new spin-off show just seconds in

Viewers had their say as I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here returned to our screens. A new edition of the popular reality show is now underway to keep fans captivated for the next couple of weeks.

This time a host of famous faces from over the past 20 years of the ITV show have swapped the Australian outback for South Africa. The celebrities have all done their time in the jungle previously and will be battling it out to be crowned the ultimate I'm A Celeb legend.

Set in Kruger National Park, one of South Africa's largest game reserves, a line-up of celebrities, including presenter Carol Vorderman, former Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan, Bolton boxer Amir Khan and The Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder, will take on some of the toughest bush tucker trials ever.

Unlike the usual versions of I'm A Celebrity, the new spin-off with hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly back the helm is actually pre-recorded. It was filmed in September last year. And as it kicked off with a Deadly Drop challenge for Carol, Amir and Diversity dancer and presenter Jordan Banjo, fans raised the same issue.

@_HerrDavid_tweeted: "Is it just me that is a bit 'meh' as it isnt "live"? and @DOneDTwo8 agreed: "It’s a meh, from me." And @CtTweets08 said: "Shame it's not live but it'll be entertaining. I hope..."

Other viewers said it felt 'weird' to be watching in April instead of the usual November in the run up to Christmas. @RSVPMagazine said: "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here in April, this feels weird. Why do we have a sudden feeling we should be Christmas shopping. "

@eds_afterglow remarked: "It’s so weird how we’ve had love island and I’m a celeb before the summer." And @BeckieTWx asked: "Anyone else thrown out! Where’s the Christmas tree?"

@TeamAntDec decided: "It’s weird watching @imacelebrity this time of year @antanddec #imacelebrity." @NathanStaker1 said: "It's weird hearing the #ImACeleb theme tune and it not being nearly Christmas! Looking forward to this series!" And @HorneWilson11 commented: "Feels like it’s Christmas in a few weeks."

But @TwellyWatcher cheered "Been patiently waiting for this since it was announced!! I just know it’s going to be so good and great TV. We’re in South Africcaaaaaaa." @ShowbizSecrets celebrated: "#ImACelebrity is back!" And @ffsbaillyReborn tweeted: "I’m a celebrity South Africa? I’m here for it."

This series because it isn't live, there will be no public voting, so viewers won't be able to choose who endures the brutal challenges. In a shake-up, campmates will instead go head-to-head in trials and whoever loses will be sent home. The last celebrity standing will have earned the 'I'm A Celeb Legend' title.

Appearing on Lorraine last year, Ant said: "It's slightly different to the show we do in Australia because they go head to head in trials and whoever loses leaves. It’s quite brutal, so that’s how we decided the winner." Dec added: "We’ve done it, we’ve shot it and it’s really, really good." The series will run for two weeks; slightly shorter than usual.
