Chris Moyles has had viewers of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! marvelling at his weight loss. The radio DJ weighed 18.2 stone when he was at his heaviest but he managed to lose an incredible six stone.
Now he has shared with his fellow campmates how he turned his life around and managed the incredible feat of shedding so many pounds after Loose Women star Charlene White asked him about it.
Chris told his campmates: “I once bought a microwavable kebab. From what I remember it tasted alright. But back then I was eating all sorts of crap. I didn’t necessarily eat a lot but what I did eat was all bad. All bad.”
As for his motivation, the 48-year-old continued: "A mixture of things. I climbed Kili [Mount Kilimanjaro in 2009]. I was 17.5 stone at Christmas and we were climbing in March. I got down to 16 [before we went]. Climbed Kili and lost a stone in a week.
"I sat at 15 [stone] for ages and I had a trainer, and one day I just went, 'It’s a waste of time this training, I’m not losing any weight' and he just barked at me, 'That’s because your diet’s s***!' So we had a big chat… I fell down to 12 stone really quickly. 10 years ago [that was]."
In 2017, after papers speculated about what the star did to lose the weight, Chris posted a tell-all post on Facebook, which blasted a number of publications for printing mis-information about his diet and routine, with some citing that he was using diet pills to lose weight.
He said: "The most disturbing inaccuracy was this; 'He uses a popular natural supplement called Slimfy three times a day to raise his energy levels...' Total and utter b******s. I have never even heard of this product, let alone used it. I don't want people reading this and thinking that's how I lost weight. So here, from my tiny mouth, is the truth. I stopped buying bread. Dramatically cut my lager intake. Started eating better food and less crap. Trained regularly. That's it."
During lockdown, Chris also appeared on Ross Kemp's podcast, The Kempcast, and discussed not only his career but his major weight loss transformation - where he also stated that his body and wheat do not get on, leading to him not buying bread "in years".
“I’ve lost six stone. From my worst weight I was 18.2," he said to Ross. He also revealed that he weighs himself five to six times a week and trains just as many times. "I know you shouldn't and I know it's not for everyone but why I do that is so I can learn about how my body works. I will train Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and I will watch what I eat and I will eat very little."
