ITV bosses have insisted Boy George can do eating trials on I'm A Celebrity despite being a vegetarian - and insist his dishes "stink" and are worse than the meat options.
The singer, 61, is said to have thrashed out his ITV contract with stipulations about his food whilst on the show.
Executive producer Olly Nash said: "We have always got alternatives if people are vegan or vegetarian and either need to eat in camp, and don't want to eat the main meal, or for the trials.
In 2020, many viewers complained when Corrie star Beverley Callard did an eating trial in North Wales to win stars from camp.
Ant and Dec told viewers the actor was vegan and therefore avoided animal-based food such as lambs' brains.
At one point she ate fermented plums whilst DJ Jordan North was stuck with a deer testicle, which seemed a much worse trial.
But discussing possible food options for Boy George in the eating trials, Olly added: "It's actually, weirdly, more stinky and more gross than eating the meat products."
Bosses are trying out new things for the celebs to eat this year.
During a tour of the camp, we were invited to drink a shot of blended camel testicles. Fish eyes are also again on the menu as in previous years.
And Boy George is clearly ready to cause some mayhem as he heads into the I'm A Celebrity jungle, saying that he is "bored of being iconic in a corner".
The singer equally as well known for his loud, blunt personality and gigantic hat collection, also likened himself to Margaret Thatcher ahead of his appearance on the show.
“I watch I’m A Celebrity every year and I had to think long and hard about this. But I feel like I am in a very fertile creative moment in my life," he said. "I am in a moment of rediscovery of who I am as a person, artist and older man and I feel like I do make a lot of effort to be in pop culture.
“I am bored of being iconic in the corner and if you want to compete in the world then being part of telly is part of that. This is the biggest show on TV and that is why I am doing it.
"And now I have made the decision, I don’t want to focus too much on what the experience might be like, but my intention is it is going to be amazing. It’s three weeks without make-up and three weeks is nothing. I have just done seven weeks on tour.”
Quizzed on whether he will mind not getting much sleep, he admitted: "I am a bit like Margaret Thatcher – I don’t sleep a lot. I find sleep a bit of a hindrance because I can’t get things done when I am asleep.
"I do like to chant and I will find a corner to do it in camp. I do fast a lot at home and weirdly I am nicer when I don’t eat! I am quite a good cook but I will never inflict what I make on other people. I can make some really disgusting things. Some people open my fridge and scream!
"That said, I do know I will miss my phone, espressos, goat’s cheese and feta cheese whilst I am away."
