We're mere days away from the new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! This year's line up has been revealed and now, details have emerged as to what one of the first Bushtucker Trials of the series will be. Netflix's Squid Game encapsulated viewers across the globe in 2021, and I'm A Celebrity will pay homage to the Korean drama during this year's series.
Campmates are set to don matching green tracksuits, akin to the leisurewear worn by Korean contestants in Squid Game. Show insiders say that the show's costume department has made the tracksuits specifically for the challenge, but they won't be an exact replica due to image rights issues, meaning the ITV show's version will be more of a parody.
The insider told MailOnline: "The Squid Game style challenge is the trial show bosses are most excited about. Being back in Australia means challenges can be on a far bigger scale and they've really pushed the boat out for this one. Viewers will no doubt know all about Squid Game and its bloodthirsty content, therefore pushing the celebrities into that world will make for exciting tell."
Squid Game is Netflix's biggest show to date, with subscribers watching 1.65billion hours of content within its first 28 days of release. The series centres on 456 players, all of whom are experiencing financial hardship, asked to compete in a series of children's games in a bid to win a huge cash prize. Viewers don't have too much longer to wait until they can watch this year's celebrities take on the Squid Game-inspired trial, as I'm A Celebrity returns to ITV on Sunday, November 6.
The first trailer for the upcoming series debuted earlier this month. The clip sees Ant and Dec "sky-diving" out of a helicopter to the sounds of Welcome to the Jungle by Guns 'n' Roses and as their parachutes deploy they have 'We're back' written on them. This year's series marks the first time the show has been filmed in Australia since 2019. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
