I'm A Celeb fans call for 'official investigation' as Matt Hancock survives vote

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! viewers have been left baffled after former Health Secretary Matt Hancock survived another elimination.

The public had voted in their thousands which resulted in Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver becoming the third star to be given the boot from the Australian jungle.

However, the news has shocked some people who believe that Hancock, 44, should have been sent packing when the votes first opened last week.

Many were left stunned when the shamed MP was pushed out of the Tory party after breaking his own coronavirus guidelines while having an affair with a former aide.

Following the news that he survived, fans flocked to Twitter to share their views with one saying: "We need a formal investigation and a public enquiry into the people who are voting for Matt Hancock #ImACeleb."

"Matt Hancock still being in the jungle is a prime example of how the British public can not be trusted with a vote #imaceleb," said a second.

Before a third commented: "Matt Hancock should not be on #imaceleb If he was sorry for all he did during Covid he would donate his £400,000 appearance fee or actually work."

"Another s***e result. How are Hancock and Boy George still there? Who is picking up the phone to vote for MATT HANCOCK? As usual, the British public are disgusting. #ImACeleb," fumed a fourth.

Another typed: "Ffs. Matt Hancock got more votes than Sue? I don't believe it, I call bull***t on the vote counting."

During Sunday night's episode of the ITV show, Hancock appeared to be emotional when it emerged he wouldn't be going home.

As A Place In The Sun presenter Scarlette Douglas received her marching orders and was filmed walking across the famous suspended bridge, he was seen wiping away what appeared to be a tear.

But during Monday's episode, he survived the third vote despite many Brits believing he would be the first to be sent back to the plunging UK temperatures.

As Sue was informed she'd be going home, the actress sprinted out of the camp before joining hosts Ant and Dec for her final interview.

Asked if it was her time to go, she told the hosts: "Yeah absolutely, I had enough."

She added: "It's the anxiety, the not knowing, having no control over your life and that's weird, so weird."

Sue said: "I loved being in there, that camp, I loved it I really did," adding: "I've loved all of that."

"I have had the ride of my life, I really have. I will never forget it and I am so glad it ended there," she continued.

I'm A Celebrity airs every night at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
