Infowars founder Alex Jones has inexplicably claimed he was responsible for the Sandy Hook mass shooting during a bizarre rant in his first interview since his defamation verdict in August.
Last month, Jones, a far-right conspiracy theorist, was ordered to pay $45.2 million (£39.17 million) in punitive damages following a lawsuit in relation to his false claims that the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting, where 20 children and six adults were killed, was a hoax.
Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, the parents of six-year-old Jesse Lewis, who was one of the victims killed in the attack, sued Jones for defamation and sought at least $150million (£123million) in awards from the radio host.
Neil and Scarlett say that they've faced harassment and emotional distress because of Jones' comments on the attack.
The same jury had also awarded $4.1 million (£3.54million) to Heslin and Lewis in compensatory damages.
On August 3, Jones finally conceded in court that the shooting was "100% real".
He told the jury: "Especially since I've met the parents. It's 100% real. They [the media] won't let me take it back."
However, in his first interview since the awards, Jones erupted with wild claims that he killed the Sandy Hook victims.
Jones was aggravated during the sit-down interview with YouTube journalist Andrew Callaghan, who shared the explosive two-minute trailer on Channel 5's account. The full video was only available for patreon subscribers at the time of writing.
The trailer started with Callaghan asking if Jones had felt responsible for the Sandy Hook families, to which the Infowars founder sarcastically and abruptly replied: "Yes, I killed the children."
Callaghan tried to get a serious response from Jones, who interjected: "No. I went in that school, I pulled a gun out, and I shot every one of them myself. I am guilty, it’s true."
Jones then added: "Do I feel responsible that someone that played shoot-em-up video games, on a bunch of drugs, went and killed a bunch of kids and then the internet questioned it, and I covered that? No, I don’t feel responsible, and I don’t apologise," before saying: "I killed the kids."
The Infowars founder, who got more exacerbated as the interview continued, said as he held his hands up in a guilty motion: "No, I killed them. I killed them."
Callaghan tried to stop Jones by saying: "No, you didn't kill them," before the 48-year-old continued shouting: "No I did! I killed them, I killed them. I've already admitted it, I killed them, I'm the bad guy, I'm the devil."
Jones' wild accusation against himself also saw him claim that the "first amendment killed them" and said that they needed to get rid of the "second amendment" because both amendments "killed the kids too" before also blaming George Washington and Jesus for the mass shooting.
He also sarcastically claimed that people should "bow five times a day" for Sandy Hook in addition to having holidays for the atrocity.
The trailer shows Jones walking out of the interview but appears to still have his microphone on when he discusses what has been said with what is alleged to be an Infowars employee, albeit with a distorted voice.
During the conversation, the employee says: "I don't think you should keep doing that," to which the founder of the far-right conspiracy website and radio host replied: "What? Dude, I murdered those children."
The employee responded with: "Stop..." before Jones interjected: "I did... I killed them myself."
His employee did not find it amusing though, adding: "It's still not a funny thing to say. I get the point, but it's just like... F*** man" before Jones retorted: "F*** it, I don't give a f*** dude."
