This time of year is the perfect opportunity to burn some candles and get cosy, but they can often come at a hefty fee.
My house is pretty much filled with candles, but I often try to get as many affordable ones as possible because I burn them so much - even in the summer! I knew that Aldi had an amazing selection of Jo Malone dupes from its Hotel Collection, and I was really drawn to its ceramic selection of candles.
The two new Hotel Collection scents are 'Lavender & White Musk' and 'Glowing Fire', and they are both priced at £9.99 each. At first glance, they look strikingly similar to the £94 Jo Malone version, and for £10, I was very impressed with the general aesthetic.

In terms of colour, although the candles were in simple black and white ceramic holders, they looked effortlessly chic. There's something so minimalistic and cool about a matte ceramic candle, and both candles looked very fancy on my mantelpiece.
The full product description for the Lavender & White Musk candle reads: "Indulge with this scented and stylish Lavender & White Musk Candle by Hotel Collection. Treat your home to a new scent, or gift to a loved one for an ideal present. This stunning candle will sit effortlessly on your coffee table or mantelpiece."
The scent
The two candles have two very different scents, and I definitely preferred one to the other. The 'Lavender & White Musk' smelt really refreshing yet subtle, and wasn't too overpowering like some Yankee Candles that I own.
I wasn't sure if the lavender scent would come through completely for the price of the candle, but I was really pleasantly surprised. Although this candle isn't crazily strong, it fills the room enough to be noticeable.
If I'm being completely honest, I wasn't a massive fan of the 'Glowing Fire' scent, it had an oddly sweet smell that I wouldn't have matched to a glowing fire, but it was still relatively pleasant.
For me, the 'Lavender & White Musk' was my absolute favourite, the white ceramic jar made it look lovely and expensive and it smelt incredible too. For those who prefer a darker aesthetic, the Hotel Collection 'Glowing Fire' candle adds a lot of pizzazz to your home, but in my opinion, the scent wasn't amazing.
The verdict
If you want a stylish looking candle that isn't extortionately priced, I'd highly recommend the new Aldi Collection. Although low in price, they look way more expensive than they actually are.
The candles have a lovely weight to them, and definitely don't feel 'cheap' in the slightest. Although I wasn't a big fan of the 'Glowing Fire' scent, the 'Lavender & White Musk' fragrance was lovely and refreshing.
Put it this way, I won't be rushing to purchase a Jo Malone candle anytime soon, purely because this set is just as good if not better. I'm very impressed. Shoppers can purchase the Lavender & White Musk Candle for £9.99 here. The 'Glowing Fire' candle is also available to purchase for £9.99 here.
