‘I didn’t do dangerous driving’, man who drove Mercedes with three wheels down M1 tells police

A man drove for miles down the M1 after a high-speed crash left one of his wheels hanging off.

Omar Makhluf, 20, of Keel Close, Barking, was driving his Mercedes Northbound in Buckinghamshire on 16 February 2025 when he collided with the central reservation, leaving the front-right wheel to hang off the car.

He then proceeded to drive for several miles along the motorway, before telling police, “I didn’t do dangerous driving.”

Makhluf pleaded guilty to one count of dangerous driving and one count of driving whilst unfit through drugs on Friday, 6 February. He was sentenced to 22 months in total and disqualified for four years and 336 days for multiple driving offences.
