'I can't believe it' - Man City fans react to Sergio Gomez transfer news

Manchester City have agreed a fee with Anderlecht for the transfer of Spanish left-back Sergio Gomez.

City will pay €13m (£11m) plus add-ons to bring the 21-year-old to the Etihad Stadium, but that does not mean their hunt for a new left-back is over. Following the sale of Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, City failed to meet Brighton's asking price for Marc Cucurella, who has since joined Chelsea in deal worth £63m.

Gomez could stay with the first-team squad this season to bolster City's depleted options at full-back, but Pep Guardiola will assess him in training before making a decision.

City view Gomez as a long-term development signing, so should Guardiola decide he needs more time to develop then he will go out on loan, possibly to City Football Group side Girona.

It is, therefore, unclear when City fans will catch their first glimpse of Gomez in action, but many of them are excited by the deal. Here are some of the reactions from Twitter.

@One2wos: he suits city perfectly, final balls into the box are very good and great technically, can play a number of positions

@Weezy_ef: LB at my club I can't believe it

@johnnydejesus_: They better not loan him! We need him badly

@bardstein: @ManUtd see this. Find a player, agree a deal, sign him. Its really that difficult?

@21_aayush: Loaning him out. How does that make any sense? They absolutely NEED a LB.
