Gaming laptops have reached a strange point where the performance continues to climb, but so does the price. Once you start looking at machines equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, spending $5,000 or more is no longer particularly unusual.
That puts the HyperX OMEN MAX 16 in an interesting position. The version I tested pairs an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU with Intel's Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and comes in at around $4,700. That is obviously still a huge amount of money, but compared with the current market for similarly equipped flagship laptops, it starts to look surprisingly competitive.
