Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi flays razing of temple in Rajasthan

HYDERABAD: AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday took up cudgels for a temple in Rajasthan while blaming both BJP and Congress for demolition of the old Shiva temple in Alwar. Demanding that both parties tender an apology to the people, he said the AIMIM believes in freedom of all religions.

The Congress washed its hands off the demolition claiming that Rajgarh municipality is ruled by the BJP and the action was based on a unanimous resolution by BJP-led municipality board. Owaisi told reporters here: “I condemn the decision. The municipal board is headed by BJP. Congress is in power in the state. The Congress accepted the decision of the BJP-led municipal board to demolish the temple.”

Immediately after the demolition, Owaisi tweeted: “Condemnable decision by BJP-ruled Municipality Board to demolish a prachin mandir in Rajgarh, Rajasthan. We believe in freedom of religion for all religions, and this is a grave violation. Hope BJP-RSS apologises for its attacks on all places of worship (sic).”
