Huw Edwards criticises controversial new TV drama about his scandal

  • Huw Edwards has criticised a new Channel 5 factual drama, Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards, which dramatises his grooming of a 17-year-old.
  • Edwards claims Channel 5 and the production company, Wonderhood, made no attempt to verify facts with him before making the drama and refused to disclose if any of the accusers had been paid for their contributions.
  • The one-off special, starring Martin Clunes as Edwards, is based on interviews with the anonymous victim, court documents, and primary source materials provided by The Sun.
  • Edwards, who pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children in July 2024 and received a six-month suspended sentence, expressed deep regret and remorse for his “reprehensible actions”.
  • Channel 5 stated the drama is based on extensive interviews with the victim, his family, journalists, and court reporting, and that all allegations were put to Edwards via his solicitors.
