The husband of a woman who went missing in Spain in February has been arrested in Florida, as confirmed by the FBI. David Knezevich, 36, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is in federal custody for his alleged involvement in his wife's kidnapping on or about February 2, 2024. The Spanish National Police, US Customs and Border Protection, the Diplomatic Security Service, and the FBI are actively investigating the case.
The missing woman, Knezevich Henao, 40, was reported missing after she failed to meet a friend in Madrid. Her friend, Sanna Rameau, last exchanged messages with her on February 2. Rameau expressed relief upon learning of the arrest, hoping for answers.
According to Rameau, Knezevich Henao had mentioned meeting someone wonderful and planning to visit a summer house near Madrid. Around the time of her disappearance, security cameras at her apartment building were tampered with, though it's unclear if this is related to her vanishing.
Police entered Knezevich Henao's apartment on February 12 with judicial authorization. Her brother and friend had been in contact with Knezevich, who claimed to be in Serbia. Knezevich Henao had initially rented the apartment until February 5 but later extended the booking until March 5.
David Knezevich is listed as the CEO of a computer services company in South Florida, while Knezevich Henao is described as a native of Colombia and a project manager. The US Embassy in Madrid declined to comment on the case in February, citing privacy restrictions.
