Power outages are currently impacting a significant number of customers in various states along the southeastern coast of the United States. In Florida, more than 320,000 customers are facing power disruptions as Hurricane Helene has intensified to a Category 4 storm just hours before it is expected to make landfall in the Sunshine State.
As of Thursday evening, the state of Georgia has reported nearly 12,500 customers without power, while in North Carolina, over 15,500 residents are experiencing outages. These outages are a result of storms that occurred late Wednesday and continued through Thursday, preceding the arrival of Hurricane Helene.
South Carolina is also feeling the effects of power outages, albeit on a smaller scale compared to its neighboring states. Currently, more than 2,200 customers in South Carolina are affected by the disruptions in power supply.
