Limerick and Clare will contest the Munster hurling final while Waterford’s Championship hopes hang by a thread after a damaging defeat at home to Cork.
A draw between Limerick and Clare in Ennis means that they both will occupy the top two spots in the Munster group, meaning that there is nothing at stake for Clare in their final round robin game at home to Waterford next Sunday.
There’s lots riding on it for Waterford but even a victory for them may not be enough to slip into third place and an All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final as a win for Cork in Thurles would ensure that they edge finish ahead of the Deise on the head-to-head rule after their six-point win at Walsh Park.
Tipperary retain a remote chance of coming third but would need a seven-point win over Cork and a Waterford defeat for that to come to pass.
The Munster final, the first between Limerick and Clare since 1995, will likely be fixed for Thurles on June 5.
In Leinster, Galway are assured of their place in the knockout stages but need to avoid defeat against Dublin next Saturday to guarantee a provincial final spot.
Wexford must beat Kilkenny in Nowlan Park to have any chance of staying in the Championship. Anything less and Dublin will progress, regardless of how they fare against Galway.
