Hundreds of visas awarded to Ukrainians fleeing war in Liverpool

Almost 300 visas have been issued to Ukrainian nationals in Liverpool according to UK Government data.

As part of the Homes for Ukraine scheme to support those fleeing war, 274 individuals have been awarded a visa in the city since the beginning of the programme. The scheme enables people and organisations in the UK to bring Ukrainians and their family members to the country.

The programme, whereby a sponsor invites a person, family or community a place to stay, allows Ukrainians to stay in the country for up to three years. Data released by the UK Government said as of September 6, 324 applications for a visa had been made in Liverpool.
