Jobs up for grabs at new Amazon 'fulfilment centre' in Knowsley

Jobs are on offer at a Knowsley "fulfilment centre" newly opened by tech giant, Amazon.

The multinational business has begun shipping items to customers from its new 636,000sq ft warehouse on Dale Lane, and bosses are now looking for employees to pick, pack and ship millions of items across the UK and beyond.

Engineers, HR and IT professionals, health and safety and finance specialists and operations managers are also needed at the warehouse, which opened yesterday, October 3, with a Beatles tribute band, games, dancing and gift giveaways.

Amazon Knowsley general manager Tony Carr said: “We are excited to have opened a new fulfilment centre in Knowsley, the first in Merseyside, creating 700 roles across a wide range of disciplines and offering competitive wages, excellent benefits and a modern, safe and engaging work environment from day one. The new fulfilment centre is a further sign of our commitment to the communities in which we operate and I am looking forward to the weeks and months ahead as we grow our team and deliver for our customers.”

Pay starts at £10.50 per hour for all full-time, part-time, temporary, or seasonal roles. Benefits include private medical insurance, life assurance, income protection, a company pension plan, and an employee discount on Amazon goods.

The multinational company also offers the "Career Choice" programme, which pre-pays 95% of course tuition in a variety of fields - up to £8,000 over four years. The programme aims to train up to 5,000 employees over the next three years thanks to a £10m investment to help boost the skills and employability of British workers.

Internal career progression opportunities such as cross-training, transferring to a different department and promotion into a managerial role may also be available to some workers.
