Human remains discovered in Dublin Mountains

Human remains have been discovered in the Ticknock area of South Dublin, near the Dublin Mountains.

Gardai are still trying to establish the identity of the deceased following the grim discovery last Tuesday. However, they are following "a definite line of enquiry" and post-mortem results will further shed light into the case.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, a Garda spokesman told Dublin Live.

He said: "Gardai at Rathfarnham are continuing to investigating the discovery of human remains in the Ticknock area of South Dublin on the February 21, 2023. Searches of the area involving Gardaí and Civil Defence, with assistance from the Office of the State Pathologist and a Forensic Anthropologist, have been completed in recent days and following consultation with the Coroner the remains have been removed for post-mortem examination.

"Efforts to formally establish the identity of the deceased are ongoing, Gardai are however following a definite line of enquiry. Results of a post-mortem examination will determine the course of investigations in the matter. Foul play is not suspected at this time."
