- Hugh Laurie has apologised for an online exchange with journalist Janet Murray, which resulted in her receiving abuse from fans of his Emmy winning show, House .
- The incident began when Murray posted on X/Twitter, joking about the repetitive formula of the medical drama House, in which Laurie starred as Dr Gregory House.
- Laurie responded with a lengthy and sarcastic defence of the series, comparing its structure to the works of composer Johann Sebastian Bach and artist Frida Kahlo.
- Following Laurie's initial response, Murray reported that she had received “fairly horrific trolling” from “abusive” House fans.
- Laurie later apologised, explaining that he was 'slightly drunk and already upset' at the time of his initial tweet and was primarily 'sticking up for the writers' of the show.
