There were huge queues on Dawson Street today as Dublin's first Pret A Manger gave away free lunches.
It is the first of the chain's 20 new shops set to open up all around Ireland over the next 10 years. 25 new jobs have been created at the Dawson Street outlet.
The cafe will officially open on Friday morning and is "expected to welcome 10,000 customers across its opening week". At the end of each day, the new shop’s surplus food will be donated through The Pret Foundation to Depaul Dublin.

Mikey Mulqueen, Dublin Operations Manager, said the team is "working hard on the final touches at the shop" to get it ready for the opening weekend.
"Following months of planning and preparation, I speak for the entire team when I say we are excited to open our doors and to provide our customers with the signature friendly Pret experience with great tasting food and coffee," he said.
