A new 'Party in the Park' is coming to Birkenhead Park this weekend.
Young people are invited to the day-long event to mark the launch of new neighbourhood-based services for young people across the borough. The celebration, which takes place this Saturday, June 25, will offer a range of entertainment including live music from local bands, musicians and performers, as well as games, exhibitions, crafts and workshops.
The day is organised by Wirral Council's Youth and Play Service and offers the opportunity for young people to find out about the new and improved services available in their neighbourhood. They can also meet youth workers and other partners who are involved.

The park event, which takes place from 11am to 4pm, will feature six 'activity zones'. These will include an Arts Zone where there's the chance to get creative and contribute to the street art boards; a Sport Zone complete with a mobile climbing wall, skateboarding, scooters, inline skating and a multi sports experience provided by the LFC Foundation; and a Virtual Reality Zone which features a VR headset to help visitors transport themselves to another world.
There will also be a Chillout Zone to relax in, with a 'chillout' tent with a yoga session on offer, and a Showcase Zone for budding performers and musicians to play an instrument, sing, dance, or even recite a poem. The final area is the Street Zone which offers street style games for younger children.
Party in the Park marks the launch of the new Neighbourhood Youth Model for Wirral's Youth and Play Service which offers a range of activities for young people aged 11 to 19 years - and 20-25 for young people with disabilities - from all backgrounds. It aims to provide a safe space for young people to be themselves, meet and socialise with friends, and participate in positive opportunities to learn, develop, grow and be inspired.
Wirral Council director of Children's Services, Simone White, said: "This is going to be a such a fantastic event and there will be something for everyone, plus lots of opportunities to get involved, have a really enjoyable day, listening to great live music and playing games, or just chilling out. The event also marks an exciting and important point in the delivery of services for young people in Wirral and I hope as many young people as possible will join us to mark this."
Organisations supporting the event include LFC foundation, United Utilities, Hive Youth Zone, Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, Gautby Road, NEO Community, Merseyside Community Training, Birkenhead Park Rangers, Scenegraphstudios Ltd, Youth Fed, and Barnardo’s Action with Young Carers Wirral. Parents and carers can register ahead of the day or just turn up.
