Huge Glasgow road pothole causing grief for drivers as three cars blow tyres in minutes

A huge pothole is causing grief for drivers in Glasgow - after three cars in the space of 20 minutes blew their tyres driving over it.

The pothole is located at the junction of Auchinlea Road and Gartloch Road behind Glasgow Fort in the north east of the city.

One angry driver took to Twitter to call on the council to repair the road after their car was damaged driving over it.

They told Glasgow Live that moments before and after their car was damaged two other cars blew their tyres, with other drivers using the road also pulling over to check if their vehicles.

They said: "I pulled over and someone came up and asked if I had done my tyre as they had just done the same and pulled into a side street. In the time my tyre was changed another done it too. Quite a few cars also pulled over to check theirs."

A Glasgow City Council spokesman said: “Our roads inspectors have attended at this location and the pothole has been filled in as a temporary measure ahead of a permanent repair.

“Potholes can be reported directly to the council through the council website, the MyGlasgow phone app and social media accounts or, in emergency situations, by calling the RALF hotline.”
