Firefighters tackled a huge blaze at a building beside a Fife country road last night.
The fire took hold inside an outbuilding at Dales Cottages beside the B981 between Inverkeithing and Crossgates, near Cowdenbeath, after 10pm last night.
Locals reported hearing explosions more than a mile from the site, known locally as Dales Road, as the inferno raged.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service scrambled seven appliances and specialist resources to tackle the fire, which is understood to have started in a garage.
Dramatic pictures shared on the Facebook page Fife Jammer Locations showed thick plumes of smoke erupting from the scene and pouring across the sky.
There were no casualties from the incident.
One local said: "It's a garage fire - everyone looked to be out and safe.
"We phoned the fire brigade and they were already aware on en route so we left to keep the road clear."
It has since been confirmed that there were no casualties as a result of the blaze.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 10.07pm on Tuesday, May 31 to reports of a fire within outbuildings at Dales Cottages, Inverkeithing, Fife.
“Operations Control mobilised seven fire appliances and specialist resources to the scene where crews extinguished the fire.
“There were no casualties."
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that they assisted with traffic management at the scene.
