A large amount of herbal cannabis was seized after being concealed in 'shoes' parcels at Dublin Airport over the weekend.
Detector dog Enzo helped Revenue Officers as part of a routine operation on Sunday. Officers seized 6.2kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €124,000 at Dublin Airport.
A Revenue spokeswoman said: "The illegal drugs were discovered concealed in parcels described as ‘shoes’, that had arrived in air cargo consignments from the United States and Spain and were destined for addresses in Counties Dublin and Kilkenny."

Meanwhile, yesterday Revenue officers seized almost 23,000 cigarettes and 0.8kgs of ‘roll your own’ tobacco in Waterford city as a result of an intelligence-led operation. The cigarettes and tobacco, bearing Polish tax stamps, were discovered following the search, under warrant, of a residential premises and have a combined retail value of more than €18,500, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €14,500.
A Polish man in his 40s was questioned in relation to this seizure. A Revenue spokeswoman said: "Investigations into both seizures are ongoing.
"These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and smuggling. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on our confidential phone number 1800 295 295."
