The Bank of England (BoE) has confirmed that it has upped its base rate from 1% to 1.25% and as a result major high street banks have started to confirm the dates for when customers on standard variable rate (SVR) mortgages will be hit by these higher costs.
Those on a tracker rate mortgage will see their interest rates go up automatically in line with the BoE rate hike.
