How will the rail strikes affect you?

Strikes from rail workers across the country kick into action today, with members of the RMT Union at Network Rail and 13 train operators taking action after no pay deal was agreed.

It means that only a fifth of rail services will run today, Thursday and Saturday (23 and 25 June), and that services will be cut to 60% on the other days this week.

With disruption to trains set to be large and widespread, we want to know how you feel about the strikes and how they will affect you.

The strike action means that service will be disrupted on many main operators including, Avanti West Coast, East Midlands, Northern, and TransPennine Express.

RMT Union believe many staff are being treated unfairly over issues including pay, job security and working conditions.

Some government officials have been critical of the strikes, with a Department for Transport spokesperson saying that the action "risks killing services and jobs."

However, Trades Union Congress general secretary Frances O’Grady responded saying: "The Government has the power to help end this dispute but rather than working in good faith to find a negotiated settlement, ministers are inflaming tensions and trying to pitch worker against worker."
