How to watch today's memorial service for Alex Salmond

ALEX Salmond’s memorial service is to take place in Edinburgh today.

The full order of service was released earlier this week and can be found HERE.

Salmond passed away after suffering a heart attack while attending a conference in North Macedonia on October 12.

Here’s all you need to know about the memorial.

When and where is it happening?

The service is due to begin at 11am and will take place in St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh.

Salmond’s (below) family has said they have been “overwhelmed by the level of public interest in attending Alex’s memorial service”.

They added that it was not possible to “accommodate everyone” but that it would be live-streamed.

How can I watch the memorial?

The memorial is to be livestreamed by the BBC with the broadcaster covering the service from 10.30am until 2pm.

It will also be available on the BBC News website within a live page as well as on a separate stream on the BBC iPlayer HERE.

Who is performing at the memorial?

A number of musicians will be attending and will perform at the memorial, including both The Proclaimers and Dougie MacLean (below).

Sheena Wellington, the Scots singer who performed at the opening of the Scottish Parliament in 1999, will also be among those performing.

Politicians, including Kenny MacAskill and Fergus Ewing, will also be speaking at the service.
